Updating video driver dell dimension 2400

I thought If I could get my computer to connect to the net, I could allow the net to choose the right drivers and install them.But Which Drivers do I need for that/ And How Can I download and Install them? In the Device Manager: If I Click on the Device Right Click and Select Update Driver I will choose the Driver to Install,-- there are some selections to make, but I'm not sure which to choose or if they would work. There are losts of selections under Modems with JUST ONE under the Intel Manufacturer-Intel Pro 100 LAN Modem 56 Cardbus II . Please offer any easy to understand instructions/links-- to a person ready to rip out all of their hair. At the top is an icon like a TV and it should say SCAN. Is there anything Listed in the Devices with a yellow If so you need to update the Driver.
